Guernsey Zombie Run is a (roughly) 5k obstacle filled fun run with zombies. From the moment you leave the start line, you’ll be running, crawling, and fleeing in horror from the hordes of undead whose only mission is to devour you alive! Will you survive not only the mud and the ravenous monsters, but the fear within yourself? Or, will you climb, scramble and chase the running buffet? All you can eat! Will you gorge yourself on flesh as you push the limits of Zombie abilities? Only you can decide. How do I register? Visit our home page and click on the link or there is a link at the bottom of this page Please include names of entrants, age if under 16 and don't forget to tell us if you are registering as a Zombie or as a Survivor in the 'note to seller' box You can now pay into our paypal using your debit or credit card. The Registration fee includes participation in the race, Zombies, 3 health flags, race number, mud, Zombies, mud, finisher medal, mud, certificate, and did we mention MUD!! In order to keep the registration fee down and affordable to all, we will not be offering merchandise with your registration. How far is the Guernsey Zombie Run? The Guernsey Zombie Run is less than 5k and will be held away from roads within the Rue Mainguy site. - Can I register to be a Survivor and a Zombie? No, because Zombies and Survivors are on the course at the same time. (If we have enough registrations to create two heats, we will make provision for this) - I signed up to be a Survivor but now I want to be a Zombie instead. Can I transfer? Yes, just email or send us a facebook message. - I signed up to be a Zombie but now I want to be a Survivor instead. Can I transfer? Yes, just email or send us a facebook message. - Can I get a refund? Sorry, all entry fees for running are non-refundable. Remember, it's for charity. - Can I transfer my registration to someone else? You may transfer your registration up until 2 days before. It is your responsibility to collect money from the person you transfer your registration to. Please email us by 21st October or your message may not be seen. Is there parking? There is limited parking on site. Please consider sharing. - What if it rains? Even better because Zombies love the rain! - When is the last day I can register? This year we are allowing you to book right up until 2 days before. If you leave it too late however, we may run out of medals. If you wish to register as a Zombie, we advise you to book early as there are limited Zombie places. We will post on our facebook page if the Zombie places are filling up. - Do you accept registration by mail? We only accept registration done online through our website. If you have a problem with registration, please email us. - How much does it cost to run the race? Under 16's £7.50 Adults £10 If you are a large group, please contact us for a group discount. Do I have to get sponsorship? While we would love for our participants to print off our sponsorship form and fill it up. We appreciate each and every entry to the race and sponsorship, while appreciated, is not mandatory. -Where do I pay in my sponsorship? The easiest way is for you to bring it on the day. There will be someone at the check in to collect sponsorship. Alternatively, you can send your sponsorship to our paypal - I registered for the race. Where do I get more information? Right here, on this site, or on our facebook page. Or just ask. - Can I come just to watch? Definitely. Spectators get in free. Cars will not be allowed to enter the site after 11.50am. - Do I need to register to be a spectator to come hang out? No. But please be aware of limited parking. When is check in? Runners should arrive an hour before race time (11am) Please pick up your number and flags, you cannot run without them. When you check in, please bring the following: 1. Your unique ID participation number 2. A signed and dated copy of the participant waiver 3. Your sponsorship 4. Your belt to tuck your flags into - Do I need to bring a signed waiver? Yes, you will need a signed and dated copy of the participant waiver. Remember, if you are under 18, this must be signed by a parent or guardian. You will not be permitted to run without this. - Can I check in for my friend or family member and pick up his/her flags? Yes, as long as you have the following: 1. Your friend or family member's unique ID participation number 2. A signed and dated copy of their participant waiver - What should I bring? - Your unique ID participation number - A signed and dated copy of the participant waiver A belt, length of string, dressing gown cord (we aren't fussy) to tuck your flags into - Spare clothes, trainers, and a towel. A black sack for your car seats for the journey home is also recommended - Money for food and drinks after the race - Zombie costume What shouldn't I bring? Please leave valuables at home. Neither Guernsey Zombie Run organisers nor Guernsey Scout Association are responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen property. Who the heck took their PHONE on the course last year? Please leave skateboards at home Pets Outside food or alcohol Glass bottles weapons Poor Sportsmanship - Are weapons allowed? No. Your only weapon will be to run quickly, Train physically and prepare mentally. Anyone found in possession of any weapons will be asked to leave the site. - Do I need to show up in Zombie makeup if I signed up to be a Zombie? Yes. A zombie is not a zombie without a costume. Bring the right attitude, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and the willingness to get into character. - What do I get? 1. Zombie Run Survivor certificate 2. Finisher medal 3. Tons of new friends covered in mud that are just as crazy as you are! 4. A chance to win a prize In order to keep the price of registration down, we have opted not to offer merchandise as part of your registration but we are hoping to offer limited edition Guernsey Zombie Run t-shirts this year. More information about this soon. - What should I wear? Wear clothes you can get muddy and wrecked and a sturdy pair of trainers. - Can I wear a costume? Absolutely! Just remember any clothes you wear are subject to getting quite messy. Costumes are encouraged. - Can I run the race in my costume? Hell Yeah! Please make sure your costume does not injure other runners. - Can I run the race barefoot? Er. No. - If I can't run the race barefoot, can I run the race naked? Definitely No! - Is there a place where I can put my stuff while I am running or enjoying the event? There is limited parking on site, we recommend you leave your belongings in your vehicle or with a friend. There will be someone in the car park during the race. We are working on this.... Volunteers for bag sitters??? -Can I bring my mobile phone? The taking of selfies or snapchats or tweeting or whatever becomes the new fad come October is strictly prohibited during the race. Not only does it interfere with other participants, it is anti-social and ruins the atmosphere. Please save all selfies for after the race or your phone may end up covered in mud. Guernsey Zombie Run organisers and Guernsey Scout Association take no responsibility for your stupidity of taking a phone on a fun run. PLEASE LEAVE IT IN YOUR CAR!!! There will be photographers on the course to document the activities and we promise to upload these to our facebook page after the event. - Will there be drinking water available after the race for runners? Yes. But please also bring extra, especially if it is hot. - Will there be food and drink? Hot food and hot and cold drinks will be on sale Water will be available for runners - Can I bring my own alcohol? Alcohol will be confiscated and given to the Guernsey Zombie Run committee members to "destroy." Any participant under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave the site with no refund. - Can I bring my pet? Sorry, No. Pets are not allowed at Guernsey Zombie Run. Dogs may get scared, cats may be trodden on and if you bring a hamster.... well, it's likely to get lost. - Will there be toilet facilities? Yes. Entry to the facilities will be through the back doors near the finish only. - Are there age divisions? No, all ages will run together. Participants under 12 must be accompanied by a sibling/relation over 15. Parental permission must be obtained at time of registration. Under 16's may run alone but must have an adult on site to be allowed to participate. Groups - We would love to welcome groups to participate. If you are a large group please contact us. We may be able to arrange a group challenge for you. - How old do you need to be in order to participate in the race? While there is no lower age limit to participate, all runners must be able to complete the course unaided. The Guernsey Zombie Run is not the place for young children who could easily become scared of the Zombies. They are after all.... Zombies! We expect some very realistic costumes. Runners under age 18 must have the participation waiver signed by a parent prior to arriving to the race. Under 12's must be accompanied around the course by either an adult, or a relation over the age of 16. Spectators can be of any age and do not need a participation waiver. Under 15's must have an adult on site to be allowed to participate. - Will photos be posted online? Yes. Guernsey Zombie Run will post the most extreme pictures on our website and facebook page. If you have a photo or video to share with us from either before or after the race, please post it to our facebook page. - Are there awards? Awards will be given out for the following categories: Muddiest person* Best Costume* Most Zombie flags taken Most Survivor flags taken *Participants who think they are the muddiest, or have the best costume will be called forward. The loudest applause will determine the winner. - When will the awards be given out? The awards will be given out once all Zombies and Survivors have finished the race. If there are enough registrations, we may have two heats. - Will the winners be posted online? The winners will be posted on the Guernsey Zombie Run facebook page and the website after the event. - Should I do it? It's your choice. You can remain a regular, lazy-ass, experienced couch potato, gazing at facebook all day and live your boring mundane life or you could come and unleash your inner Zombie or Survivor. - How does the whole Zombie Run exactly work? When you arrive at the check in, you will be given three health flags. You will need to provide your own belt/piece of string/dressing gown cord to tuck the flags in. Wear it so that one flag is on each hip, and one is behind you. Zombies will attempt to take Survivors health flags and Survivors will attempt to take Zombie flags. You may only take ONE health flag per Zombie/Survivor. Even if you are infected or dead (lose all your flags) you can still finish the race. You do not become a Zombie if you lose all of your health flags, and cannot attack other runners. Doing so is a violation of the rules and will get you disqualified and asked to leave. If you make it to the finish line with at least one health flag, you are a Guernsey Zombie Run Survivalist. Every Zombie and Survivor to finish the race will receive a medal and certificate. Do not hide the health flags under your clothes, or tuck them in in any way. This is cheating, and will get you disqualified. - Will I become a Zombie if I lose all of my health flags? You will not become a Zombie, and cannot attack other Survivors. Doing so is a violation of the rules and will get you disqualified and asked to leave. However, you can still finish the race while you are infected. - Will I still get a finisher medal even if I lose all of my health flags? Yes. You will get a finisher medal whether you finish the race dead or alive. Use it as motivation for the next outbreak! - Can Zombies physically attack the survivors? No! No biting, tackling, pushing, or grabbing of anything but one health flag per Survivor is allowed. If you do any of these things, you will be escorted out of the site with no refund or perks. -Can survivors physically attack the Zombies? No! No tackling, pushing, or grabbing of anything but one health flag per Zombie is allowed. If you do any of these things, you will be escorted out of the site with no refund or perks. - Are there different kinds of Zombies? Yes. We have fast Zombies – who have signed up to chase Survivors and steal their flags, and we have 'Static Zombies' who are stationed around the course in order to surprise you. - How many Zombies will be on the course? Nobody knows! A Zombie outbreak is unpredictable. - Will it be difficult? Guernsey Zombie Run is a challenge but not impossible. You'll be glad you did it and will have a apocalyptic time. - How do I know how fast I ran? Guernsey Zombie Run is not timed. Surviving the race with a health flag is the goal not finishing it fast. - Is there a time limit to finish the course? No. You can run, walk, crawl or dance the course if you wish. There are no prizes for finishing first. The aim is to retain at least one of your health flags while stealing lots of others. - Is it easy to get lost on the course? No. The course is marked so you'll know what direction to run in. - How does each obstacle work? You won't know exactly until race day! Zombie fanatics relish challenging surprises! You will need to crawl and climb and dodge but that's all we're telling you. - Can a fellow runner help me get through an obstacle if I cannot do it by myself? Sure. Most runners have spectacular sportsmanship. You will see a lot of strangers helping strangers. - Can I participate in Guernsey Zombie Run if I can't swim? Sure, there is no water too deep that you cannot walk through providing you stick to the marked course. Anyone found near the pond will be asked to leave immediately. - Is it safe? Participating in any race has risk. Please enter at your own discretion. There will be volunteers from St John Ambulance at the event in case of an emergency. There will also be marshals around the course. These people are there for your safety and will have no health flags. Some of our static zombies will also have whistles to attract attention in case of an emergency. Whilst we have taken every precaution to ensure the course and obstacles are safe, Guernsey Zombie Run and Guernsey Scouts will not be held responsible for loss or injury, especially if you do not stick to the marked course. If you are not able to run, avoid other runners, climb, crawl avoid tree roots and get muddy, please consider registering as a 'Static Zombie' or assisting us as a marshal. - Will I be able to participate even if I am in bad shape or don't exercise regularly? Finishing the race is about how mentally tough you are more than how physically fit you are. However, it will involve running and climbing and crawling. There are limited spaces available for 'Static Zombies' You can walk the entire course if you wish. - How can I get in better shape for the Guernsey Zombie Run? 1. Have your friends and family dress up as Zombies. Then have them chase you around the nearest common land. (1-5 mile runs recommended) 2. Dig a mud pit in your neighbour's garden to bathe in 3. Stretch 4. Hydrate well 5. Eat Well 6. Sleep Well 7. Be mentally tough and know that you can succeed - Will there be a photographer to take pictures of me and my zombie-crazy friends? Of course! The pictures will be available on Guernsey Zombie Run's facebook page after the weekend. - Where can my friends and family take pictures of me? The best place is near the finish line. There will be signs showing where spectators can stand to get a great view. OK, I forgot this last year but you all found the perfect places to stand. - I don't want to run, but I'm a huge Zombie fan, how can I get involved? We always appreciate offers of help.
